Pousada de Sao Tiago is housed in a historic 17th-century Portuguese fort overlooking the sea; you can almost taste the history here. This is certainly Macau’s most charming hotel and offers traditional comfort in each of its 24 rooms, as well as more modern amenities like wireless Internet connection. Along with its excellent terrace restaurant, garden and pool, it also has a small 18th-century chapel devoted to Sao Tiago, the patron saint of the Portuguese army. The Pousada is a bit of a hike from Sao Malo, but reception can arrange taxis or there are buses (#6, #9 or #28B).
