Miami Travel Guide
Introduction
Miami is a big, boisterous city with a buzz, and the second-largest Spanish-speaking city in the U.S. – after El Paso, Texas. It's a heady mix of Cuban exiles, Haitian refugees, stateless souls from all across Latin America and the Caribbean, hedge fund managers, real estate developers, bankers, business tycoons, and rich retirees with great suntans. It's a mosaic, and a fabulously colorful one at that, of distinct and diverse neighborhoods – think Little Havana, Little Haiti, Liberty City, Allapattah and Flagami, among others – with the sights, sounds and flavors of far-off places, together with urban beaches, Art Deco pockets, and a city center packed with skyscrapers. It has ethnic eateries right alongside gourmet establishments, and edgy clubs and bars that hardly blink until the wee hours of the morning. It has mass as well as high-end shopping venues, first-rate museums, galleries brimming with every genre of art, myriad parks and amusement draws, and a port filled with more cruise ships than anywhere else in the world. Ultimately, Miami can accurately be described as the affable bad boy of American cities, basking in the brilliant Florida sunshine.
Location
