On the way to Beauduc, it is worth stopping at La Capelière on the D36b. It is prime birding territory. A log book for visitors lists some of the birds you can expect to see, such as tufted ducks left, scaups, red-crested pochards below, tits, spotted eagles, marsh harriers, flamingos and great white egrets, among others. A marked, 1½-km/.9-mile trail has conveniently placed hides. The center is open every day, from April 1 to September 30, 9 am to 1 pm and 2 to 6 pm. Between October 1 and March 31, it closes an hour earlier and is completely closed on Tuesdays.
