If you want to dive with France’s most famous diver since Monsieur Cousteau, you have to go to Cassis, where Henri Cosquer, discoverer of the 27,000-year-old painted caves of the Calanques, maintains a dive center for beginner to experienced divers. Cassis Services Plongée is located in the center of Cassis harbor. Prices range from euro 55 for a first dive including one-on-one instruction, equipment rental, insurance plus first dive certificate to several hundred euros for lessons to various certificate standards. Experienced divers may also join the team at Cosquer’s dive center for night dives and exploration of the Calanques. Sadly for divers, the famous underwater cave is now protected and closed to the public, but there are still wonderful discoveries waiting to be made.
