At this attraction in Orrviken, just outside Östersund, you can see domesticated elks up close on guided tours, or go up in the observation tower and look for the Great Lake Monster. If you want to take a boat for a ride on the lake, that can also be arranged. The Garden started in 1997 with just two calves. With the arrival of a baby elk two years later, the interest in Moose Garden escalated. Today, it’s more than just a zoo; it’s a paper factory, with paper made from the droppings of the elks. The paper is made manually by the owners without any energy-demanding machines, is biodegradable and therefore 100% environmentally friendly.
