Slottsparken (Castle Park) is adjacent to Kungsparken and was used as a training ground for the military before it became a park. When the regiment moved to a different location at the end of the 19th century the city made a deal with the government and received a big chunk of land. In 1900 Slottsparken was inaugurated. In the summertime, the park attracts many people because of its open spaces suited for all kinds of outdoor activities. Others like to take a walk along the edge of the big pond and observe the diverse bird life.
