Fantasy of Flight, about 12 miles north on Hwy 33 in Polk City, takes you back to the days when people, in this case pilots, went sky diving because they had to. You can fly a Corsair Fighter simulator outfitted with the sights, sounds and (ugh) motion of a World War II-era combat plane, tour an assortment of “immersion experiences” that capture the feeling of flying through the clouds or being in a battlefield trench, and see historic flying machines such as the last airworthy Short Sunder land, the giant four-engine flying boat, and the Ford Tri-Motor used in two “Indiana Jones” movies.
