Trier has the largest collection of Roman ruins north of the Alps. The five major sites are the Porta Nigra, the Amphitheater, the Imperial Baths, the Thermal Baths under Viehmarkt, and the Barbara Baths. The superb Landesmuseum is unfortunately not included and entry to the Basilika is free. The Thermal Baths under Viehmarket always close at 5 pmand remain closed on the first working day of the week. If time is limited, give preference to the first three sites.
